Project Scope

The Client and What Was at Stake

You know when you have a favorite local community coffee shop that you go to all the time, and then suddenly there’s a new owner and the place becomes totally different?

Alright, take that feeling and turn it up by 100. That’s what we were trying to avoid here.

Josh was launching a company in an industry where trust does most of the heavy lifting. Goldin Senior Transitions is not just helping people move boxes. They are providing thoughtful, patient, top-to-bottom transition services— sorting through homes, memories, changing health needs, family dynamics, and a long list of decisions that can feel emotional before the first box is even packed.

Moreover, Goldin was being launched through a friendly acquisition and a yearlong partnership with Annestasis, an established Memphis senior-transition provider led by Stacey Saed. This meant that while Goldin Senior Transitions was technically a new business, it was not a blank slate. They had relationships and reputations they needed to protect during the transition.

So, the launch of Goldin needed to accomplish two goals that could easily conflict:

  • Establish Goldin Senior Transitions as a capable, distinctive company clearly led by Josh.
  • Preserve the relevant trust, relationships, endorsements, reviews, online authority, and community goodwill associated with Annestasis.
What MKC Saw

Launching a business can become a full-time job made up of twenty smaller full-time jobs. As Goldin’s launching marketing partner, MKC gave Josh one strategy and one team to coordinate the moving parts. That allowed him to stay focused on operations, relationships, client needs, and the financial discipline required of a startup while we built the marketing foundation around him.

We knew from the start this was not simply a startup branding project.

It was a transfer of trust.

The strategy was clear: the transition needed to make both continuity and change visible.

  1. Goldin Senior Transitions needed to look and sound like its own company
  2. Annestasis’ involvement needed to demonstrate that the transition was intentional and supported
  3. Existing audiences needed a clear virtual path from Annestasis to Goldin
  4. Referral partners needed a credible explanation of what was changing
  5. Paid promotion needed to wait until the brand and conversion foundation were getting ready

If we could protect the reputation and the relationships Annestasis provided, while building Goldin Senior Transition a distinctive, trustworthy brand, we could launch the business with a strategy that could scale and exceed expectations.

What MKC Did

To execute the coordinated launch strategy, we carried out four workstreams:

  1. Built a distinct and trustworthy brand

We needed to show that Goldin Senior Transitions was established and dependable all on its own, and develop the marketing materials to convey that. We worked with Josh to develop a voice and brand that was steady, human, practical, and knowledgeable– without being overly sentimental or corporate.

Josh told us that most of the other companies in the senior transition community lacked any marketing materials at all– so having the collateral in the first place would set Goldin apart from the crowd.

Actions:

  • Created the Goldin Senior Transitions Logo
  • Developed brand standards
  • Established the company’s voice
  • Defined its messaging and market position
  • Applied the brand across digital, social, advertising, photography, and print materials
  • Created collateral for community visits and referral partners2. Created a credible digital home and facilitated the authority transfer

Announcements, referrals, community outreach, and advertising would be less effective without a credible destination that explained the company and converted interest into action.

Actions for the digital foundation:

  • Developed original website content
  • Built the new Goldin website
  • Structured the content for SEO and AEO discovery
  • Used service language and questions families and referral partners naturally ask

Actions for the authority transfer:

  • Planned the Annestasis website sunset
  • Planned a 302 redirect from the previous website
  • Planned the transition of applicable profiles, reviews, and business information
  • Prepared the new website to serve as the destination for referrals, announcements, and advertising

    3. Made the handoff visible and human

The Annestasis acquisition needed to feel like a thoughtful continuation of care– not a sudden replacement of one company by another. Showing Josh and Stacy together turned an abstract business transition into a visible endorsement.

Actions:

  • Planned original photography to capture the real people doing the work
  • Created professional headshots and an image library including Josh and Stacy together
  • Developed joint statements and leadership messaging
  • Planned social videos and launch announcements
  • Conducted a goodwill tour introducing the partnership across relevant audiences
  • Developed public-relations messaging around the transition.4. Led with Relationships before Reach

In an industry dependent on word-of-mouth referral, paid promotion alone would not establish Goldin within that network.

MKC developed an outreach and goodwill strategy that combined direct introductions, public relations outreach, announcements, printed referral collateral, opportunities for Josh to visit organizations, and follow-up conversations with potential partners.

Once we had connected with key groups and the brand, messaging, website, conversion paths, and launch communications were in place, then the paid-media phase began.

Actions:

  • Display advertising
  • Meta advertising
  • Search engine marketing
  • Targeted print placements in Memphis and Mid-South publications

If we had paid for attention before the company had a credible place to send prospective clients, the campaign would be significantly weakened.

Attention without substance goes nowhere.

The Receipts

Within a week, Goldin Senior Transitions was featured in Google’s Answer Engine responses and recommendations for senior moving companies.

Josh reported that within two weeks of the website going live he was contacted by a hospice leader in Mississippi who had seen Goldin’s online advertisements and announcements. He invited Josh to provide more information about his services, and subsequently, that leader made a referral.

Josh’s first inquiry arrived within two weeks of the launch, and much of his early business actually came through his connection to Annestasis– the trust transfer was succeeding.

A week later, Josh had his first direct referral to Goldin Senior Transitions, confirming that the unique brand identity we built for him was also producing results.

Josh has also been basking in the glow of significant positive feedback from the social media posts MKC developed. The launch helped create community visibility, including a scheduled YMCA speaking engagement and plans for a second presentation.

Perhaps most encouraging of all, Josh told us that his profits have far exceeded his projections. At just two and a half months old, the company operated in the black for a few days and has since successfully met payroll and paid its bills. Josh told us he expected to subsidize the operations of his fledgling company for at least six to nine months and he’s elated at the success of the launch, pushing him to break even and approaching profitability so early.

“The initial success I’ve had is a direct result of the marketing Megan Klein Consulting has done. Being able to get my name out there faster than I could have on my own has been very positive.”

The Take Aways
The Right Attention + The Right Audience + The Right Timing = More Trust = More Revenue

In an industry based on trust, sheer volume of attention was not going to move the needle. We needed to build trust by bridging Josh’s new audience with the relationships he inherited from Annestasis. Slick marketing did not replace word of mouth. It made Josh’s existing relationships easier to activate and gave referral partners professional materials, messages, and digital proof they could share.
